Stockton Police officer opens fire on possible robbery suspect [Video]

STOCKTON, Calif. — A man was critically injured Friday night after being shot by at least one Stockton Police Department officer, the department said.

Police were investigating an armed business robbery in the 5700 block of Pacific Avenue in Stockton around 9 p.m. Friday. Officers say they also received a call about a “prowler” who was “trying to hide under vehicles and possibly get into residences in the 400 block of W. Swain Road.”

Police say they found the robbery suspect — now identified as 28-year-old Javion Holmes — in the backyard of a home a block north of the business on Longview Avenue.

Police say the suspect was hiding behind some debris and a narrow walkway in Raul and Laura Martinez’s yard.
