Fire officials are releasing new details about the circumstances surrounding a house fire that led to the death of a beloved fire captain. Lexington Fire Department Captain Ronnie Metcalf died one month ago due to injuries he sustained while battling a fire on Fifth Street. The Lexington Fire Chief said Metcalf and another firefighter were working as a pair to combat an intense fire at a vacant home where there was near-zero visibility inside the house. They said two other firefighters were searching for possible victims.
