LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The trainer of the Kentucky Derby favorite is looking forward to Saturday and feeling confident as they head into the Run for the Roses.
Todd Pletcher talked with WDRB Mornings on Thursday about his horse, Fierceness.
Pletcher said Fierceness’ gallop went well Thursday morning and his behavior has been good.
Fierceness is starting from the 16th post position, and Pletcher believes that will be helpful.
“We wanted to be toward to outside,” Pletcher said. “The only two times he’s lost, he’s gotten in trouble coming out of the gate and gotten bumped. A clean start is really critical for him to allow him to get into his high cruising speed and rhythm.”
Pletcher also has a horse in the Oaks, Leslie’s Rose.
