Paradigm’s deals helped set the crypto narrative. Their seed investment in Blur, Blast, and Friend.tech caught the market’s attention. Helping turn Flashbot into a unicorn put Paradigm in the spotlight, and their series B participation in Uniswap kept them there.

A16z say they invest in tech that ‘eats the world,’ and their appetite stretches from decentralised finance NFTs to groundbreaking crypto infrastructure. A16z expanded into Europe in 2023, but invested in US companies at every stage of development as well; from $20m in Sound.xyz at series A, to $115m in Worldcoin at series C.

The VC arm of Binance made several deals on their own in 2023, benefitting from the wider Binance network. Binance Labs Fund invests in deals not just on BNB Chain, but on various other blockchains too. Last year they took the lead on investing in Pendle, Cyberconnect, Radiant Capital and many more.

2023 was a rough ride in the world of gaming and NFTs. But Animoca Brands kept the faith, kept its focus, and still made 34 deals in this space. Aminoca’s investments in Forge, OP3N, conductive.ai and others allowed them to support the next chapter in blockchain gaming & NFT applications

Coinbase Ventures, the investment arm of Coinbase, made more deals than any other VC fund in 2023. They invested far and wide. In deals with Wormhole, Mauve and Supra, they covered verticles, Defi, Gaming, infrastructure, market places and security,

Blockchain capital has worked with crypto builders since 2013, and they’re still focused on innovative infrastructure today. From investing $50m in crypto security with Eigen Layer, to being the lead investor in the $115million fund raise for Worldcoin.

Polychain made its name making big investments in the decentralized space. And it led the way on the $165million investment at series B for Uniswap; the world’s largest decentralized exchange.

Pantera Capital brings traditional finance expertise to defi innovation. They led a $22million investment into the decentralized crypto derivatives exchange ‘Synfutures.’

Puerto Rican based Shima Capital likes to get in early at the pre-seed round with innovative blockchain companies. It led the seed round funding Artela and Mythic Protocol, investing over $6million in each.

Polygon Ventures invests in the companies building gaming, metaverse and web3 applications using blockchain infrastructure. An active investor in NFT and gaming deals, Polygon put more than $7m into Phaver and Connext, and is dedicated to growing the Blockchain ecosystem.
