WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – May is the last full month of meteorological spring and in North Central Wisconsin, this is the month when the growing season finally gets underway. However, it all depends on the temperatures and where you are in the region. In a nutshell, in locations near and south of Highway 29, the growing season is underway and the average last frost usually happens by the first full week of the month. Meantime, in the Northwoods, that last frost on average could take place much later in May.
