MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (DC News Now) — Berkeley County, the eastern panhandle of West Virginia and the fastest growing region, has attracted some Fortune 500 companies to expand their operations.
The region has attracted companies like Proctor & Gamble, General Motors and California-based, Clorox Corporation.

But the county, with the help of funds delivered by West Virginia State Treasurer, Riley Moore, wants to complement that growth with “homegrown” small business development and incubators to support the expansions.
Moore paid a call on the Berkeley County Development Authority Wednesday to present a $25,000 check from a surplus account in his office to get these new ventures off the ground.
“Berkeley County is growing tremendously,” Moore said. “These folks here are doing a wonderful job being able to help business opportunity and growth.”
Jennifer Smith, executive director of the Development Authority, said Moore is helping entrepreneurs get the funds they need.
