WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. (WTRF) — The highly anticipated solar eclipse is just a few short weeks away. Some may be wondering who predicted the first eclipse and what theories surround it.
The breathtaking event is one that only comes around every so often and it is also one that people have been predicting for centuries.
Through the advancement of technology and various resources, predicting the solar eclipse has never been easier.
While many might think predicting the eclipse involves science it also involves a whole lot of math according to West Liberty UniversityMathematics Professor Chad Kuhns, Ph.D. Kuhns said there was one specific group of researchers who began first looking into the astronomical event.
”You fast forward into the early modern era with guys like Galileo and Kepler and Copernicus and these guys, and they were, you know, laying the groundwork for precise prediction of eclipses,” Kuhns said.
