The first group of Boston Athletic Association competitors took to the city streets Saturday to kick off a weekend that culminates in Monday’s 128th running of the Boston Marathon.Nearly 10,000 runners took part on Saturday in the first race of the B.A.A. Distance Medley, racing 3.1 miles through the city’s Back Bay.In the Boston 5K, American runner Cooper Teare took the men’s division with a time of 13:38, and Ethiopian Fotyen Tesfay topped the women’s division with a time of 14:45. “It feels amazing I’ve been looking forward to this for a while,” said Teare, who said he had been training at altitude. “This was a long race, through some breakaways I had to catch up a couple times, but I’m happy with how I finished.”Wheelchair course record holder and six-time Boston Marathon champion Marcel Hug took the top spot with a time of 10:18.
