Downtown Rochester businesses concerned with funding it takes to upkeep historic buildings | News [Video]

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Rochester is continuing to grow- but the historical aspects of our downtown are not going to change. Rochester small business owners on the historic Broadway Ave have concerns when it comes to preserving these buildings. 

On April 23, The Heritage Preservation Commission held a meeting to discuss the potential funding from DMC and city incentives for business owners downtown. Business owner Shawn Fagan and his wife Michelle have owned Fagan Studios for nearly twenty years. 

The couple says the building is expensive to upkeep and even more expensive to change.

Fagan says, “But, it’s been my wife’s and my investment over the last 17 years thats kept it here- it’s been our passion to keep it here so we hear from city council …
