When I arrived at Thatch Caye, a resort off the coast of Dangriga, Belize, I was told not to worry about my luggage. Instead, it’d be carted off to my overwater bungalow without me lifting a finger.

When I craved a glass of water before bed, I didn’t need to ask whether the sink water was potable — a tank of drinking water was already waiting for me.
