Strip mall businesses forced to close; public health lab to take its place [Video]

INDIANAPOLIS — A number of small business owners on Indy’s northeast side claim they are being forced to close up shop, and not being given a lot of time to do so.

After building a base of loyal customers for over 20 years, items are now on sale at King’s Beauty and Fashions after a notice of lease termination to the store. 

“We got the letter on March 18 about this issue, we have to vacate here by April 30,” said co-owner of King’s, Yooae Lim.

The letter listed eminent domain as the reasoning for the move-out and gave them only a month and a half to find a new space.

“We cannot leave, because as you see, look at the store and the merchandise, everything,” said Young Ko, owner of the neighboring store, Body Gear. “We still are trying to find a new location.”
