US Sen. Warren: Campus protests an American right but should not infringe upon others [Video]

SPRINGFIELD — U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren acknowledged Friday the protests erupting on college campuses, while also calling for cease fire, return of hostages, humanitarian aid and negotiations to a two-state solution are solutions in Gaza.

“I’m deeply, deeply grateful to live in a country where people can make their voices heard. And they can say so out loud. That’s part of the core of our democracy,” said Warren, a Democrat now running for her third term.

“It is important that we have peaceful protests, that no one feel(s) intimidated, and people are not blocked from going to classes or being able to get food or go to their homes.”

Warren spoke with reporters Friday on Fort Street, following a small business roundtable.

“We have a real crisis going on right now in Gaza,” she said.

Israel has a right to defend itself and a right to fight to get hostages returned, she said.
